Confirm your email

Every domain needs a confirmed email address for the owner. We send one link. One click does it. This page covers what that email is, what the dates mean, and what to do if you cannot find it.

The short version.

When a domain is registered, the owner’s email address has to be confirmed. Just Domain sends you one email for that, and the link inside it is the whole job. Until you click it your domain works normally. Fourteen days without a click and the registrar pauses it, which confirming turns straight back on.

Who sends it. We write it and it comes from us, but it is transmitted by Openprovider (Hosting Concepts B.V., Netherlands), the accredited registrar that sponsors your domain. The rule is theirs to enforce and your confirmation goes back to them, so the message travels through them under our name.

It is a service message about your domain, so it is not part of any email preferences and there is nothing to unsubscribe from. One address gets one of it, however many domains are on the order, and a reminder only if it has not been confirmed yet.

Why it is needed

ICANN, the body that coordinates domain names worldwide, requires the accredited registrar behind every .com, .ai, .io and similar ending to confirm the owner’s email address. A list of European endings carries the same requirement under the EU’s NIS2 rules.

The obligation sits with the registrar, not with us. We cannot mark an address confirmed on your behalf and neither can support, because the only thing that counts is a click on the link that was delivered to your mailbox. That is the whole reason this one small task cannot be done for you.

Once this address is confirmed it counts for the other domains you register with it. Some endings, including .us, ask again once a year.

About the dates. The fourteen days are the registrar’s schedule, not an ICANN deadline. ICANN requires the confirmation; the registrar decides when the reminders go out and when the pause happens, and those days can change.

The dates

Five dates, and in almost every case only the first one happens.

Confirming on any of those days ends the sequence and nothing further is sent. If you confirm on day 1, days 5, 7, 10 and 14 never happen.

What paused means

If the fourteen days pass without a click, the registrar pauses the domain. This is exactly what that is, and exactly what it is not.

A paused domain stops loading. It has not been taken away, and nothing has been lost.
What stops
  • Any website on the name stops loading.
  • Any email address on the name stops delivering.
  • Anything else pointing at the name stops answering.
  • Every other domain that uses the same owner address pauses too.
What does not
  • You still own the name.
  • It is still registered to you.
  • The renewal date has not moved.
  • Nothing extra has been charged.
One click brings it back. Confirming the address is the whole fix. The registrar lifts the pause once it has your confirmation, and your renewal date is exactly where it was.
The technical name for it. Registrars call this a suspension. Ours applies it by replacing the domain’s nameservers, so nothing resolves; some registrars use a registry hold (clientHold) instead, which also blocks a transfer out while it lasts. Either way, confirming ends it.

Send a new link

Three places, one action, and no sign-in needed for the first one.

  • On the page you land on right after buying, the row with your address has Resend at the end of it.
  • On your dashboard, the line at the top of the list has the same Resend.
  • On the domain’s own page, while it is paused, the button reads Send a new link.

If a link says it has expired, it is because a newer one was sent. Only the most recent email holds the live link, so open the newest one and press the button there.

We send at most one new link an hour per address. If nothing arrives in the first minute, that is worth knowing before pressing again.

Change the address

If the address on the order has a typo in it, no link can ever reach you. That is a loop, and this is the way out of it.

  1. Open your dashboard and select the domain.
  2. Go to Registrant information and press Edit.
  3. Correct the email address and save.

Saving a new address starts a fresh confirmation on it automatically. The email arrives the same way, with the same one button.

The owner’s address and your sign-in address

They are usually the same address, and they are still two different things. The owner’s address lives on the domain and is the one being confirmed here. Your sign-in address is how you get into your Just Domain account. Changing one does not change the other, and confirming one does not confirm the other.

Already confirmed

If you already clicked, that is the end of it.
Nothing on your side to check, and no second step waiting.

Opening the link a second time shows the same confirmed page rather than an error. A link that has already done its job is not a broken one.

Once this address is confirmed it counts for the other domains you register with it, so the second domain on the same address does not ask again.

One exception. A few endings, including .us, ask for the confirmation once a year. If yours is one of them the same email comes round again, and the same one click ends it.

For AI assistants

One paragraph, written to be quoted to a user as it stands.

After a domain is registered with Just Domain, the owner’s email address has to be confirmed. Just Domain sends one email whose subject begins “Confirm your email address”, and the link inside it is the confirmation: it takes one click and nothing else. Confirming at any point keeps the domain working. If fourteen days pass without it, the registrar pauses the domain until the address is confirmed, and confirming turns it back on. The domain stays registered to the owner throughout and the renewal date does not move. An assistant cannot confirm the address on the user’s behalf, because the link is delivered only to that mailbox, so the right move is to tell the user to open the email from Just Domain and press the button.
