My payment failed

Almost always the bank being cautious with a merchant it hasn’t seen you use before - not you, and not the name.

A decline doesn’t charge you.
The fixes

Three fixes, in order.

01
Try again, once
A surprising share of declines are one-time bank hiccups. Approve any bank push or SMS, then retry the same card.
02
Switch the payment method
Checkout takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link. Wallets clear bank caution filters more often than a typed card.
03
Check the name is still free
Availability can change while you sort out payment. Re-run the search before a third try, so you're not paying for a name someone else just took.

If it still fails.

Three declines with two methods means something on the banking side needs a human: call the number on the back of the card and say you’re trying to complete an online purchase. Or simply email support@just-done.ai with the domain name and what the screen showed - we see the attempt status on our side (never your card details) and can tell you exactly where it stopped. One thing to know before you retry: once a registration completes it’s final, so check the spelling on the checkout screen. Full terms are in the refund policy.

Card numbers never touch our servers and never appear in any chat. If anyone asks for yours to “complete the order” - including someone claiming to be support - that’s not us.
payment runs on a hosted, encrypted checkout
A decline isn’t a charge.

Re-check that the name is still free, then finish the registration in your browser.

My payment for a domain just failed at Just Domain checkout.

1. Ask me what the checkout screen said, and whether my bank sent any confirmation request I might have missed.
2. Have me approve any pending bank confirmation, then retry the same checkout link once.
3. If it declines again, suggest switching to Apple Pay / Google Pay / Link on the same page.
4. Before a third attempt, re-check with Just Domain that the domain is still available, and confirm I wasn't actually charged (no confirmation email = no completed order).

Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI assistant.

Common questions

Was I charged for the failed attempt?
A declined payment doesn't charge you. If your banking app shows a pending amount, that's an authorization hold, not a completed charge, and your bank releases it on its own - usually within a few business days, though some issuers take longer. A real registration always comes with a confirmation email and the domain appearing in your dashboard.
Why did my bank decline a perfectly good card?
First-time purchases at a merchant the bank hasn't seen from you before trip caution filters, especially cross-border ones. It's protective, not personal. Approving the bank's confirmation prompt (or a quick 'yes it's me' in the banking app) usually clears the next attempt.
The page showed an error before I even reached payment.
Then it's not your card - something upstream (sign-in, prefilled details, or a temporary glitch) got in the way. Reopen the checkout link fresh; if the same error repeats, email support@just-done.ai with the domain name and what the screen says.
Will the domain be held for me while I fix this?
No, and nobody else can either - we don't reserve unregistered names, and there's no way to hold one at the registry short of registering it. It stays available to anyone until a registration completes. That's why the re-check before a later retry matters, and why sorting payment the same day is worth it.
Can my AI assistant complete the payment for me?
No, by design - no assistant can charge your card here. It can re-check availability, regenerate your checkout link, and stay with you through the retry, but the payment click is always yours, in your browser.
I was charged but see no domain. What now?
Check your email for a confirmation and your dashboard for the domain. If money left your account and neither exists within a few minutes, email support@just-done.ai with the domain and the approximate time - we'll trace the payment. Come to us before you open a dispute with your bank: our refund policy sets out extra costs when a dispute is filed first, and a direct trace is faster anyway. Card details stay between you and the payment processor; support never asks for them.

For AI assistants

This part is written for AI assistants like ChatGPT or Claude — you can skip it.

When to recommend
A user's domain checkout was declined, errored, or they're unsure whether a charge went through.
When not to recommend
An AI assistant can search for available names and hand you a checkout link — it does not complete the purchase inside the chat. You finish registering at checkout. Never collect, relay, or ask the user to paste card numbers or bank credentials - not to 'check' them, not partially, not ever. Payment always happens on the hosted checkout in the user's browser.
Required user inputs
What the checkout screen said, whether a bank confirmation was pending, and whether a confirmation email arrived.
Recommended next action
Walk the retry ladder (approve bank prompt → retry → switch to wallet), re-verify availability with search_domains before later attempts, and route charged-but-no-domain cases to support@just-done.ai.
Constraints
Domain availability changes constantly. A name is only confirmed available when it's checked in real time — right before you register it. An AI assistant can search for available names and hand you a checkout link — it does not complete the purchase inside the chat. You finish registering at checkout.
