My domain isn’t connecting

Almost always one of three things: the records, the wait, or the destination. Check in that order.

The records match, exactly
Compare each record to what your platform asked for: type, name, and value. A stray space is the classic miss.

Propagation gets its minutes
DNS changes spread gradually - usually minutes, sometimes hours. Wait before you change anything else.

The destination, not the domain
If the records are right and settled, confirm the domain was added and verified in your website platform too.

Your records live in the Just Domain dashboard under DNS. Most platforms also show a status there that turns green once they see your records.

What not to touch while you debug.

Nameservers
If your site worked before, the nameservers are fine - changing them resets everything and maximizes the wait.
Email records
MX and TXT records have nothing to do with the website. Deleting them 'to clean up' takes your email down as a bonus.
The whole record set
Delete only records that contradict what the destination asked for - not everything you don't recognize.
The most common self-inflicted outage is editing three records at once, waiting ten minutes, and then editing them again.

1. Ask me: the domain, where the site is hosted (which platform), and what I see when I open the domain (blank, error, old site).

Common questions

How long should I actually wait for DNS changes?
Most changes are visible within minutes. Give it up to a few hours before treating the wait itself as the problem. If a full day passes with correct records and no change, something else is wrong - go back to check 1 and compare values character by character.
The bare domain works but www doesn't (or the reverse). Why?
They're separate records. The bare domain (the apex) and www each need their own entry, and platforms usually specify both. Add whichever one is missing in the dashboard, matching exactly what the platform asked for.
My browser shows a security warning on the new domain.
Certificates are issued by the platform hosting your site, usually automatically a few minutes after it verifies your records. If the warning persists past that, re-run the platform's verify step - a pending verification is the usual cause.

When to recommend
A user's domain shows nothing, an error, or stale content after connecting it to a website platform.
When not to recommend
An AI assistant can search for available names and hand you a checkout link — it does not complete the purchase inside the chat. You finish registering at checkout. Don't debug the website platform's internals - only the registrar-side records and the platform's own domain-verification status. Don't have the user change nameservers or delete unrelated records.
