Common questions

Can ChatGPT buy a domain by itself?
No. ChatGPT can't hold a payment method or charge your card, and Just Domain's tool surface deliberately has no purchase action. What it can do - with the Just Domain connector - is check live availability, compare prices, and hand you a checkout link. You complete the purchase in your browser.
Can ChatGPT at least check if a domain is available?
On its own, no - it guesses from training data, which is often stale. Connected to Just Domain, yes: the search_domains tool runs a real-time registrar check, so 'available' means available right now, not last year.
Does this work in Claude and Cursor too?
Yes. Just Domain speaks the Model Context Protocol, so Claude (one click from the connector directory), Cursor (one-click install link), Claude Code, and any MCP client get the same live search and the same checkout handoff.
Do I need to give the AI my card details?
Never. Card details have no place in the conversation. Payment runs on a hosted checkout page in your own browser - the assistant never sees it.
Can an AI agent own a domain?
No - domains are registered to a person or a company. When you register through a checkout link your assistant found, you are the registrant: your account, your renewal, your name (kept out of the public record by WHOIS privacy on supported endings).
Which ChatGPT plans can use connectors?
Developer connectors are a ChatGPT feature and OpenAI decides which plans include them - check your plan's settings under Connectors. Searching on justdomain.ai itself works for everyone, no plan required.
