Keep your home address out of the record

Domains publish registrant details in a public record unless privacy hides them. WHOIS privacy is included and on by default here, on supported endings.

Put email on your domain

Common questions

Should I register the LLC or the domain first?

Usually the domain, because it's the fast, low-commitment step - you can secure the name while the entity question settles. When to form the company is a legal and tax question, and the answer changes by country and state, so put that one to a lawyer or accountant early rather than late. If the two names might not match, check the domain before you commit to the legal name. That's practical sequencing, not legal advice.

Does my domain have to match my registered business name?

No. The legal name and the brand name serve different jobs, and plenty of businesses trade under a domain that isn't their registered name. What matters is consistency where customers look: domain, email, signage, and social handles telling one story.

How many domains does a new business need?

One. Add more only with a concrete reason - a second brand, a country-specific site, a common misspelling that already costs you traffic. Buying ten defensive variants on day one is a habit registrars sell and businesses regret.

Is a domain the same as a trademark?

No. Registering a domain gives you the address, not the legal right to the name. If the brand matters, run a trademark search in your market before you print anything - that's a job for a trademark professional, not a registrar.

What does all of this cost?

LLC first or domain first?

The honest sequencing: the domain is the fast, low-commitment step - so most founders secure it first and let the entity question take the time it needs. When to form the company depends on liability, contracts, banking, and tax in your jurisdiction, which is a question for a professional rather than a checklist. The one trap to avoid is committing to a legal name whose domain turns out to be taken - check the name live before the paperwork, not after.
