Start with us, not with the unlock. Email us the domain, or ask your AI assistant - the connector ships a built-in transfer help flow.

Unlock where it lives now
Turn off the transfer lock in your current registrar’s dashboard. It stays off only while you move.

Get the auth code
Request the auth code (also called EPP or transfer code) - a short secret that proves you’re the owner. Registrars are required to provide it.

Approve and wait it out
Your old registrar may email you to confirm. Approve it and the move completes, usually within about five days.

One check before anything else: if your current registrar also hosts your DNS, copy your records into Just Domain first. Your records keep resolving as long as your DNS host keeps serving them - which is exactly why this comes before the unlock. Email support@just-done.ai with the domain to start.

Before you start, check two things.

The recent-registration wait
A domain registered or transferred in the last 60 days usually can't move yet. For .com, .net and .org that window comes from ICANN's transfer policy, which lets your current registrar refuse a transfer inside it; for .io, .co and .ai the registry sets its own rule. Either way it's not ours, and nearly every registrar applies it.
Your contact email works
Transfer confirmations go to the addresses on the domain. If the old registrar has a dead email on file, fix that first or the approval mail lands nowhere.
What you will not find here: a retention script. Moving in takes four steps, and if you ever move out, it’s the same four steps with no phone call and no pitch.

Common questions

Will my website and email go down during the transfer?
Not if you prepare one thing. A transfer changes which registrar manages the domain, and it does not change your nameservers. But if your current registrar is also your DNS host, it may stop serving your records after the domain leaves. Copy your records into the Just Domain dashboard before you start the transfer and nothing goes dark.
Do I lose the time I already paid for?
No, and for most endings you gain some. On .com, .net and .org an inbound transfer adds a year of registration on top of whatever time is left. Endings with their own registry rules can differ, and .ai runs on two-year terms, so check what the transfer screen shows before you confirm.
Why can't I transfer my brand-new domain?
Most registrars hold a domain for 60 days after it's registered, and again after it moves. For .com, .net and .org that comes from ICANN's transfer policy, which permits your current registrar to refuse a transfer inside that window; other endings set their own equivalent. It's an anti-fraud measure, and almost nobody waives it. Note the date and move after it passes.
My old registrar is stalling on the auth code. Now what?
Registrars are required to provide it. Look for 'auth code', 'EPP code', or 'transfer code' in the domain's settings; if it's genuinely withheld, their support must hand it over on request. Once you have it, the rest of the move is out of their hands.
Does WHOIS privacy survive the move?
Privacy is a per-registrar service, so ours takes over here: included and on by default on supported endings, no add-on to remember. A few endings keep some details public by registry policy - flagged clearly, same as at registration.
And if I ever want to leave Just Domain?
